Born in 1948 in Tianjin, Shikui Yang was certified as a national first-class performer after graduating from Tianjin Conservatory Of Music. Yang has been the viola principal in the symphony orchestra of Tianjin Song and Dance Theatre since 1968 and in Tianjin Symphony Orchestra since 1984. From 1995 to 1999, he taught violin in Beijing Golden Sail Youth Orchestra. He then moved to Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra in 1999. From 2003 to 2010, Yang served as a guest professor of cello and chamber music in Tianjin Conservatory Of Music. Yang has appeared in hundreds of orchestral concerts in his career on the stage. His viola solo in the Berlioz’s Harold in Italy and Elgar’s quartet in collaboration with Tianjin Orchestra has been acclaimed. Yang has also performed in dozens of chamber music events including string quartets and piano quintets. Recordings with his participation are frequently broadcast.
